Spine Explorer

Using this tool you will learn about the areas of  the body associated with each area of the spinal column. And, importantly what  possible symptoms may result from spinal misalignment, or subluxation in that  area.

To begin, click on the label to the left,  identifying the part of the spine you would like to know more about. Some  answers to common questions are presented below.

What is Spinal Subluxation?

The nerves of the central nervous system emerge from  the openings in the spine between two adjacent vertebrae. When two vertebrae are  out of alignment they can pinch one of these nerves. This can result in negative  symptoms in one or more of the body areas controlled by this nerve. This  mis-alignment is known as a “Vertebral Subluxation”. Subluxation, if left  untreated can lead to long term health problems in the parts of the body  affected. The movie below shows what a typical veterbral subluxation might look  like.

What is a Chiropractic adjustment?

A Chiropractor is trained to identify the areas of  the spine experiencing subluxation. Through a combination of physical  examination and interviews with the patient, the Chiropractor then knows exactly  which areas of the spine need attention. By applying precise forces to specific
points of the body the Chiropractor is able to “unlock” the subluxation so that  the vertebrae may settle to their proper orientation.

How often for an adjustment?

When the vertebral subluxation has been left  untreated for a long time, the muscles, tendons and ligaments surrounding the  area will have adapted to the unnatural configuration. In this instance it is  important that the adjustment be repeated regularly in order for the vertebrae
to “take” to their proper positions. It is important for everyone to receive  regular adjustments, that way serious subluxation is not allowed to occur. This  leads to proper central nervous system functioning and a healthier, happier,  less painful life!
