The nerves of the central nervous system emerge from openings in the spine between two adjacent vertebrae. When a vertebrae is out of alignment it can put presure on one of these nerves. This malposition is known as a “Vertebral Subluxation”. Subluxation causes a disturbance to the flow of mental impulses and is considered to be the true cause of an individuals condition or dis-ease. The vertebral subluxation complex is recognized by its five component parts: Spinal Kinesiopathology, Neuropathophysiology, Myopathology, Histopathology and Pathophysiology. The spinal adjustment is the Chiropractor’s primary tool in treating the vertebral subluxation. The movie below shows what a typical veterbral subluxation might look like.
Vertebral subluxation is primarily caused by 3 factors:
1. Trauma, i.e. auto accident, sports injury, repetetive stress, childbirth, bad posture
2. Toxins, i.e. poor diet, medication, pollution
3. Thoughts, i.e. stress, depression
